Module 1 – Getting Started with SQL Server Security
We begin by discussing the importance of database security and exploring key concepts like authentication, authorization, and encryption. You’ll see demos of securing database files with folder permissions and auditing login access.
Module 2 – Understanding Authentication and Authorization
Next, we dive into authentication and authorization in depth. You’ll learn how to create logins and users for authentication and map them together. For authorization, we cover permissions and demos of granting and revoking permissions.
Module 3 – Understanding Principals, Objects, and Role-Based Security
In module 3, you’ll discover SQL Server principals like logins, roles, users, and groups. We demo managing principals with roles and adding/removing principals from groups. You’ll also learn about certificates, asymmetric keys, and securing objects.
Module 4 – Encryption in SQL Server
Finally, we explore various encryption features in SQL Server. This covers cell-level encryption, transparent data encryption, encrypted backups, and Always Encrypted. The demos will help you implement encryption in your environment.
