Just last night I was on phone with clients helping them with Comprehensive Database Performance Health Check and suddenly my phone got stuck. I thought it might be just a temporary thing and I had restarted it but that was not the case. In My android phone, I had a Greenbox Around Icon and I was not able to scroll at all.
It was total chaos for me as after restart I was not able to dial any phone or even was not able to reach out to my client. When they called me, I was also not able to pick up the phone. It was an extremely difficult moment. I had to finally use my wife’s phone to make the call. Afterward, I researched online and I realized the problem which I had faced.
Android Greenbox Around Icon
Accidently, while talking on the phone, I had enabled a feature of Talkback in my Android phone. TalkBack is the Google screen reader included on Android devices. TalkBack gives you eyes-free control of your device. It is a very useful feature but I had no idea it was enabled, which lead to confusion.
How was it talkback?
The talkback feature was accidentally enabled by me by a shortcut key. You can then hold the volume keys for 3 seconds to activate or pause Talkback.
How to disable talkback?
You can disable this feature by going to Settings > Accessibility > Talkback to turn off Talkback.
On the same screen, there is also an option to disable the shortcut as well, which I had done to avoid any future accidental clicks.
