What SQLAuthority T-Shirts Were Really About

This post is from 2008, and the online shop I linked back then may not be around anymore. If a link on this page does not open, please do not worry about it. The idea behind the page was never the product itself. A few readers wanted something to wear to a user group meeting or to keep on the desk, and I was happy to make that possible without turning the blog into a store.

Over the years, many readers have asked me how they can say thank you for a post that saved them during a late night outage. My answer has not changed. You do not have to buy anything. There are simple ways to help that cost nothing and still mean a lot to me:

• Share a post with a colleague who is stuck on the same problem.
• Leave a comment when you find a better way to write a query, so the next reader learns from you.
• Answer one question in your local user group or in an online forum.
• If you want to give money, give it directly to a cause you trust, like Child Rights and You.

I still feel the same way about the rights and education of children. A small donation made directly to a trusted charity goes further than any mug with a logo on it. And if you still own one of those old shirts, send me a photo. I would love to see where it has traveled over all these years.
