SharePoint Conference Singapore 2013: A Great Experience

I had the great pleasure of presenting at SharePoint Conference Singapore 2013. It was my second visit to this event, and I had a great time. The event had more than 900 attendees. It had moved to a bigger and better location since my last visit.

A Different Audience

As many of you know, I usually present on SQL Server topics. I love pretty much every other technology equally. The audience at a SharePoint conference is much different from the audience at a SQL Server conference. At the end, everybody had the same goal: to learn something new.

Performance in 60 Seconds

I decided to present on how to improve SharePoint performance in 60 seconds. It was inspired by my SQL in Sixty Seconds series.

I presented a total of 3 tips during the session. The tips revolved around the best practices for these database settings:

  • Auto-Growth and Pre-size Database
  • Auto Create and Auto Update Statistics
  • Placement of Database and Log Files

A Packed Room

We also played a few quizzes during the session. I decided to do something new this time. I planned a total of 100 slides and 4 demonstrations in the short time of 60 minutes. I managed my time well and finished the session in 59 minutes.

The room was overflowing at the event, and the organizers had to extend the room capacity at the last moment.

Thank You, Singapore

I appreciate the love and support the developers and admins showed at the Singapore event. I hope to see you in Singapore soon!

A different audience is not a different goal, it is the same wish to learn something new.
