Today I will keep the words very short and will convey story in three simple photographs. This post answers the question – “Do I have life outside SQL?” YES! I do and it is very beautiful.

Three Photographs, One Year
Three dates, three photographs: December 12, 2008, September 1, 2009 and December 12, 2009. When I put these pictures side by side, the year feels much bigger than any release, certification or project from that time. I have written many posts on this blog, but few of them mean as much to me as these three pictures. Each one marks a day I will never forget, and none of them has anything to do with databases. I look at them whenever a long week makes me forget what all the work is really for.
I love SQL Server, and I will happily talk about indexes at dinner if you let me. But I have learned that good work comes from a rested mind and a happy home. A life outside SQL is not a distraction from a technical career. It is what keeps that career going for the long run. A rested person handles a production crisis far better than a tired one. When a query refuses to run fast, a walk with family clears my head better than another hour at the keyboard. So if you are reading this late at night, stuck on a problem, close the laptop for a bit. Call someone you love. The problem will still be there tomorrow, and you will be in a much better shape to solve it. Your family will thank you, and so will your code.

Pinal – Great pictures. Cute baby, beautiful wife and was that a wedding picture? I’ve always been amazed at the level of detail that goes into weddings in the Indian culture. One friend was telling me about all of the flowers and flower petals involved in their own wedding along with the ornate dress and lots and lots of happy attendees celebrating.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I think all of these pictures capture some great moments. They also capture the personality that you showed in those few short times we got to chat at PASS. Thanks for sharing! (I love the expression on Shaivi’s face in the top picture, by the way. Very cute!)

Many thanks for taking time to write. I am very much honored that you have made a comment here. Yeah, the photograph is from my wedding an year ago. It was wonderful time. In India people sometime prepare for this day for many months.
Everything from water drop to clothes of relatives is micro observed and prepared. It is fun, lots of food, happiness, and very long ceremony. We have events spread out and sometime whole wedding ceremony lasts for days.
Yeah Shaivi is now 3.5 months old and started to make faces and showing expression. She is really bundle of JOY for us.
It was my pleasure to meet you at SQL PASS and seen a lot of energy in you. People like you who have unconditional devotion to community make the world as better place. I must express it was my pleasure to meet you.
