SQLAuthority News - Thank You to Blog Readers

Thank You Very Much, Blog Readers, for Reading SQLAuthority.com in 2007

Wish you the BEST for year 2008.

What Blog Readers Gave Me This Year

When I started writing SQLAuthority.com, I wrote mostly for myself. It was my notebook. I kept small scripts there so I could find them again the next time the same problem showed up at work. Somewhere during 2007 that changed, and the reason was you. Blog readers started to leave comments, ask questions and send me problems from their own projects. Some of my scripts got better because a reader showed me a shorter way to write them in the comments. Some posts exist only because someone asked a question I could not answer on the spot, and I had to go and learn it first. Some readers wrote just to say a script saved them a late night at the office. Those small notes kept me writing on the days when I was tired.

That is the part I value the most. A blog is just a pile of pages until someone reads it. Writing for blog readers keeps me honest. If a script is wrong, someone tells me quickly. If an explanation is confusing, someone asks again, and I rewrite it. I learn a lot from those comments. So this thank you is not a formality. Every question, every correction and every kind word helped me grow as a SQL Server professional and as a writer. Please keep them coming in 2008. Ask the hard questions, tell me when I get something wrong, and share the blog with a friend who is just starting with databases. I will keep writing, and I will keep learning right next to you. See you in the comments next year, my friends.
