DevReach 2013: Presenting in Sofia, Bulgaria

I had a fantastic time presenting at DevReach 2013 in Sofia, Bulgaria, on October 1, 2013. DevReach strives to be the premier developer conference in Central and Eastern Europe. It is organized annually in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The Conference

The 8th edition of the conference moved to a new and bigger venue, the Sofia Event Center. DevReach was one of the most organized events I have come across in my life. The DevReach organization team had taken care of every minute detail.

In my career, I have presented in over 9 different countries. They are India, USA, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Thailand. This was my first time presenting in Europe. DevReach was a perfect place to start my journey in Europe as an evangelist.

My Session

I presented one of my favorite sessions, Database Worst Practices. The session title was Secrets of SQL Server: Database Worst Practices.

The abstract began with a question: "Oh my God! What did I do?" Chances are you have heard, or even said, those words. This demo-oriented session showed many examples where database professionals were dumbfounded by their own mistakes. It could bring back memories of your own early DBA days.

The goal was to expose small details that can endanger the production environment and SQL Server as a whole. We also talked about worst practices and how to avoid them. Knowing these perils and the tricks to avoid them can even save your current job.

One Day in Sofia
