4)Integration with other applications and also the support it gives to dot net apps is superb and which is essential for every RDBMS
5)debugging is very easy and it is easy to identify errors thru the error msg we get ………….this is a big victory over other rdbms

  • Let’s be frank the others “kinda sux” in comparison. SQL Server is like the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars it always seems to come through with the hyper drive just when you need it. When the evil Lord Vader (Data Problems) comes along you have a light saber (MSDN Forums) close by. Everything is so easy, just like the saying “May the Force be with you!” I can drop and drag my way into any source solution. It is like i do not even have to think about what i am doing. Others such as Oracle 9i I have to really think about what i am doing. It’s like being on a speeder bike on forest moon of Endor there is always some obstacle to over come. SQL Server is by far the best RDBMS Applications on the market for being easy to use, price, data management, self-tuning, self organizing, and self maintaining. Love it and use it.

  • Easy to…

Learn: SQL Server Express is ready for you.

Install: GUI based installer, click & click.

    Maintain: SSMS, with friendly GUI.

Extend: Write CLR sp in VB.NET or C#.

Develop: Visual Studio has features for it.

Depoly: Integrated Windows Authentication, reuses your existed Windows Security Identifiers.

That’s how people choose SQL Server within 30 seconds.
    (ok i lied, maybe longer)

Having had experience in several RDBMS products including Oracle, I must say that SQL Server is a superior product due to its scalability, ease of maintenance, flexibility, and overall bang for the buck. As a developer, I have found more capabilities in T-SQL for SQL Server 2005/2008 than in Oracle 10g. Currently I am porting T-SQL stored procedures to an Oracle 10g environment and I get frustrated in taking something that’s easily done in SQL Server and having to create a work-around to get similar functionality in Oracle.

To put it another way, even if I were offered more money to work on Oracle vs. SQL Server, I’d take the lesser paying job to stick with SQL Server. My overall stress level would be much lower!!
