To Remove Unused cache entries, I first inspect cache and workload evidence. My original intervention followed other customer tuning work.

-- Historical exceptional intervention, NOT RUN:
-- DBCC FREESYSTEMCACHE ('ALL') WITH MARK_IN_USE_FOR_REMOVAL;
SELECT name, type, entries_count, entries_in_use_count
FROM sys.dm_os_memory_cache_counters ORDER BY entries_count DESC;MARK_
The customer improved after a one-time action. That result does not establish a universal memory remedy. Collect cache and memory-clerk evidence alongside the affected workload. Clearing caches can trigger expensive recompilation and rebuilding.
The inventory reports cache entries, rather than reclaimable memory or complete pressure. The old command remains a disabled template. Test any narrower intervention with expected warmup and application effects. Preserve a comparable baseline.

did you find out why the automatic process of unused cache removal was not running? or did not run that day?
