MYSQL – Detecting Current Version of MySQL Server Installation

Here is one of the most popular questions which I receive which is related to MySQL installation. The question is how do I know which version of the MySQL I have installed on my server. Here is the simple trick which works all the time. Connect to your MySQL engine with the help of Command Prompt or MySQL Workbench. When you execute the following command it will give us all the necessary information related to MySQL Version. It is the quickest way I know to check the current version of MySQL Server.

SHOW VARIABLES LIKE "%version%";
