Can you please let us clear the difference between
SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Basic and SQL Server 2008 Management Studio.[with other editions like enterprise, developers, standarad , web e.t.c]
I have installed MS SQL server 2008 Express with Advanced Services on my Vista Ultimate. During the installation, I notice that Management Studio – Basic is one of the components that will be installed. After the installation, I cannot find the Management Studio Basic. Any comment?
I look at the Setup Discovery Report for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and it include the feature Management Tools – Basic. So, my question is how to open up the Management Tools Basic.
For the above post, it should be Management Tool – Basic and not Management Studio – Basic.
Anyone manage to figure out how to get the full-text search enabled for the Express version? Its not clear from the install that it comes automatically. There also appears to be a lot of confusion on how to do that exactly; present company included.
Thanks
I have installed SQL Express 2008 and I am not sure if everything was installed properly. I do not have a link from the Windows Start Menu to the SQL Server Management Studio Express.
I had installed 2005 Express on an attached drive which had been corrupted (the drive and the program). The drive the 2005 edition was on was never connected to my current drive when it was working, thus I chose not to make my installation an “upgraded” one.
My Discovery report lists the following twice(on separate rows in the table):
Product: Sql Server 2008 | Instance:SQLEXPRESS | Instance ID:MSSQL10.SQLEXPRESS | Feature:Database Engine Services | Language:1033 | Edition:Express Edition | Version:10.1.2531.0 | Clustered:No
What should I do to complete the installation properly?
