Good point, Kevin! Keep in mind, though, that in this article the points are over-exaggerated, overexposed to infinity. Regarding the situation of the 'guy in the dark room' - it is true that it could be counter effective. It is also true that the opposite - filtering people by their social skills - can also prove counter effective.
My main point in this case is: be careful what your criteria is, and do not judge by personality only.

Good post, but, I disagree with your point about filtering personality types - I've worked with plenty of very smart people.. your dark room example. The lack of social skills in some is a very real problem.

Nobody wants to work with, let alone talk to the person who talks down to you, treats you like an imbecile or argues every little point because they MUST be right. I've worked with plenty of these, in meetings they'll try to railroad to their way of thinking, refusing to accept any other possible solutions, and if they don't get their own way spend their time sulking and making others pay for it by providing bare minimum support when needed.

That kind of person is an awful fit for more companies - it causes a real morale issue, and more importantly, becomes a lot less effective as when they don't play nicely together, the work isn't being done.
