From my point of view, there should be only two kind of DBA’s

1. Junior DBA
2. Seinor DBA.

Then comes Database Architect.

Hi Pinal,

Thanks for your articles with regards to job descriptions of DBA’s – I find it very interesting.

What I would like to ask you; should you have to break the job description of a DBA (MS SQL) down into levels of competency e.g. Level 1 – Junior DBA, Level 2 – Intermediate DBA, Level 3 – Senior DBA, Level 4 – Specialist and maybe a Level 5 – Master DBA. How would you recommend one go about in doing so?
